Everything you need to know about preparing and submitting your manuscript

Before You Begin

Pre-Submission Checklist
  • Original Work: Ensure your manuscript presents original research that has not been published elsewhere.
  • Single Submission: The manuscript is not currently under consideration by any other journal.
  • Author Agreement: All authors have approved the manuscript and agree to its submission.
  • Ethics Compliance: Research involving human subjects or animals has received appropriate ethical approval.
  • Conflict of Interest: All potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
  • Funding Disclosure: All sources of funding have been acknowledged.
Tip: Review the specific guidelines of your target journal before preparing your manuscript, as requirements may vary.

Manuscript Preparation

Article Types

Original Research

Full-length articles presenting new research findings. Typically 4,000-8,000 words.

Review Articles

Comprehensive reviews of specific topics. Typically 6,000-12,000 words.

Short Communications

Brief reports of significant findings. Typically 2,000-3,000 words.

Case Studies

Detailed examination of specific cases. Typically 2,000-4,000 words.

Manuscript Structure

  • Title: Concise and informative (max 150 characters)
  • Authors: Full names with affiliations
  • Corresponding Author: Email and full contact details
  • ORCID IDs: For all authors (recommended)
  • Running Title: Short version (max 50 characters)

  • Maximum 300 words (structured or unstructured depending on article type)
  • For structured abstracts: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions
  • Include 4-6 keywords below the abstract
  • Avoid citations and abbreviations in the abstract

  • Introduction: Background, rationale, and objectives
  • Methods: Study design, materials, procedures, and statistical analysis
  • Results: Findings presented clearly with supporting data
  • Discussion: Interpretation, implications, limitations, and conclusions

  • Acknowledgments: Contributors, funding sources
  • Author Contributions: CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy)
  • Conflict of Interest: Disclosure statement
  • Data Availability: Statement about data access
  • References: Cited works in required format

Figures and Tables

Figures
  • Submit as separate files (TIFF, EPS, or high-resolution JPEG)
  • Minimum resolution: 300 DPI for photographs, 600 DPI for line art
  • Maximum width: 170mm (full page) or 80mm (single column)
  • Number consecutively (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.)
  • Include descriptive captions below figures
  • Ensure permission for reproduced images
Tables
  • Create using Word table function (not images)
  • Number consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, etc.)
  • Include descriptive titles above tables
  • Use footnotes for explanations (a, b, c or *, **, ***)
  • Avoid vertical lines where possible
  • Cite all tables in the main text

Use a consistent citation style throughout your manuscript. Most journals accept the following formats:
